Research Exercise: English Grammar, Style & Usage

3. Use one of the online reference sources to find information on a point of style, grammar or usage in which you are interested. Attach a printout of one page which addresses the point. Be sure to give the title and URL for the source if it isn't listed on the printout.

8. Optional: If you have no experience using Interlibrary loan (ILL) this is a good way to learn. If you have good experience using ILL and don't need any offsite materials you do not have to complete this question : Use the list of works cited, notes or the bibliography from the above article (found for question 7) to find another article of interest. Check to make sure the library does not own it. Then order this article by Interlibrary loan using the Web ILL form. Attach a copy of the ILL confirmation form. Please do not order anything you do not really want - you can fill out the form and write TEST in the boxes. You will still get a confirmation from the system.
9. Explore the Web resources listed on the research guide. Select one of the sites listed, or another relevant site and provide a description and evaluation of the site. Why is it useful? Using The American Heritage Book of English Usage (or The Oxford Dictionary of American Usage & Style) and The Oxford Dictionary of English Grammar (or The Pocket Fowler's Modern English Usage) find one point of style, grammar or usage where U.S. and British English differ.
