Public Art Sites
- Americans
for the Arts: Public Art Network - Americans for the Arts'
Public Art Network (PAN) develops professional services for the
broad array of individuals and organizations engaged in the expanding
field of public art. More than 300 public art programs exist in
the United States at both the state and local level. PAN connects
the field by stimulating dialogue, discussing critical issues,
and providing information through the website and the PAN listserv.

lists major modern and contemporary visual artists.Provides for
each artist a portrait, brief biography, links to articles,
essays and interviews; original art, limited edition artprints,
photography and posters, multimedia and artist's books. Artists

Sculpture Center - The International Sculpture Center (ISC)
considers itself THE source of information on contemporary sculpture.
This site contains selected articles and archived table of contents
of Sculpture Magazine back to 1996/7. One of their major projects
is the expansion of ISC's
Sculpture Parks and Gardens Directory.
- Social and Public
Art Resource Center (SPARC)- a nonprofit arts organization
based in Venice, California, that organizes art projects city-wide
and is committed to socially responsible art. Notes that the organization

- Books on the visual arts are generally located within
the call number N in the Reference and General Collections on
level two. A few public art books can be found in N8845
call number area. Books on sculpture are in the NB call number
area.
- Books on metal working, carving and the technology relating
to art are located in the T's in the Reference and General Collections
on level two. Information relating to public art may also
be found in information on historic preservation or community
planning and development
Subject Searching
in Catalogs and Databases
Using keywords of your
choosing or Library of Congress Subject Headings, it may
be helpful to search by:

- artistic style: performance, installation etc.
- time period: contemporary, modern, sculpture -- 20th century
- artistic medium: sculpture, mural, ceramic sculpture, etc.

- movement: earthworks, land art, surrealism , etc.
- issues: site specific, community development, historic preservation,
public space, art in public places, rfp's (requests for proposals),

Also note: Exhibition
Catalogs are often cataloged by artist, subject, and museum or
gallery and Museum Catalogs are usually cataloged by the name
of the museum.
