Research Guide: Organizational Behavior and Management

Scope:  This guide is a selected list of resources that will be useful for locating information on management and organizational behavior.  These resources include print materials available in the Stewart Library, and electronic resources, some of which may be available only to WSU students, faculty, and staff.

An approach to organization psychology drawing on research formed by social identity and self-categorization. Topics include: leadership, Motivation, Communication and Group Decision Making.

  • Balancing Individual and Organizational Values HD58.7.H84 2002

    This book presents an argument that it is time for organizations to create conditions that are healthier for everyone and to integrate into their fundamental values. Included are the motivational system model explaining personal, team, and organizational behavior.

  • Organizational Behavior: The State of the Science (Second Edition) HD58.7.0717 2003

This is a series of articles written by scholars in the field Organizatonal Behavior. This edition covers individual and group level processes. Topics include: Stress and health, the past, present, and future workplace, and understanding diversity.

  • Organizations on the Couch: Clinical Perspectives on Organizational Behavior and Change

  • Six Silent Killers: Management's Greatest Challenge HD6955.F572 1998

Presents a view that rightsizing and restructuring have changed the workplace, but managers are still dealing with employees the same way with poor results. This book deals with how to conquer dissatisfaction, apathy, and resentment. The topics include the culture of comfort, complacency, and contribution.

  • Organizaton Change: Theory and Practice HD58.8.B876 2002

This book provides an overview to understanding of organizational change including the nature and types of change. Included are chapters on the history of organizational change, foundations of organizations and change, nature of change, models for understanding organization change, and leading organization change.

  • Making Sense of Managing Culture HD30.55.C73 1998
  • Managing Corporate Culture, Innovation, and Intrapreneurship HD58.7.0324 1997

Identifies how corporations may not compete on cheap labor and resources. To succeed a special culture is required consisting of culture, innovation, and intrapreneurship.

  • Organizational Behavior: The Challenges of the New Millennium HD58.7.S234 2001

Contains a wide variety of topics related to the organization inlcuding structure, behavorial systems, culture, leadership, motivation, decision making, and change.

  • Organizational Behavior: Understanding and Prediction HD31.O757

This is an older book on the subject, but may still contain useful information on the psychology, social psychology, and sociology related to organizations.




  • Handbook of Organizational Behavior  (Second Edition) HD58.7.H355 2001
    Provides an analysis of Organizatonal Behavior from a business marketing perspective that are central or soon-to-be central topics of the field. The book includes current topics such as motivation, culture, and leadership; as well as topics that require more emphasis including conglict, burnout, and work-family role conflict.
  • Handbook of Organizational Culture & Climate  HD58.7.H363 2000
    Provides an overview of research, theory, and practice in the field. Included are concepts of culture and climate, measuring of culture and climate, how culture and climate contribute to change in the world, relationship of culture and climate to human resources, and global perspectives on organizational cultures.

    Provides enhanced searching and browsing capabilities for Companies Profiles, Country Reports, Industry Profiles, and Market Research. Searching may be by keyword, author, company, publication, industry, and subject.

    Enhanced Business Searching Interface may be accessed by clicking on the link above or from within Business Source Premier by:

Database containing 42,000 articles in full text in the subjects of Management, Human Resources Management with journals including Management Decision and International Journal of Operations and Production Management.

This database is helpful for cross-referencing of topics. Nearly 550 full text journals with more than 500 peer-reviewed articles.
