The Circulation/Reserve supervisor
will assess the situation. The supervisor will then confer with appropriate
departments, including the reference librarian on duty, and the security
police, if necessary, to discuss the situation. The final decision
will be made by the Circulation/Reserve supervisor. If security or
fire department has ordered an evacuation, or if the fire alarm has
sounded, the library will immediately be evacuated without consultation.
If the library receives a bomb threat, the supervisor will notify
security and follow the procedures outlined by them.
-
The Circulation/Reserve supervisor will then proceed
with the action decided upon. In the event of an evacuation, circulation
department personnel, as well as other department personnel in the
library, will assist in clearing the building.
-
In the event of an evacuation, the supervisor will then
check the library to make sure everyone is out of the building. If
the evacuation is temporary, the supervisor will keep everyone outside
until the building is cleared by security, and the supervisor has
been informed that patrons may re-enter the library.
-
The Circulation/Reserve supervisor will call the Circulation/Reserve
coordinator to notify them of the situation.
-
The University Librarian will be notified if there is
an evacuation, or other serious situation.
-
If the decision has been made to close the building,
the supervisor will secure the building and leave.
