Stewart Library Use Policy

Stewart Library's primary mission is to support the library needs of Weber State University students, faculty and staff. WSU students, faculty and staff have priority in the use of library resources, services, and facilities. Community patrons using Federal Depository Library Program materials have the same priority as WSU patrons.

Community users are welcome to use library resources not needed by students, faculty or staff as long as they follow library use policies.

Anyone using library resources, services and facilities must comply with the following guidelines:

  • Loud, rowdy or threatening behavior directed at others or yourself
  • Viewing disturbing images on public workstations (for example: pornography or graphic violence)
  • Audible sound from computers, headphones, etc.

  • Odor (for example: body odor, strong perfume or aftershave)
  • Noise in quiet study areas
  • Cell phone use that bothers others
  • Failure to cooperate with library staff

  • odor (for example: body odor, strong perfume or aftershave)
  • Do not plug in laptops or other electronics where they obstruct traffic (Ask library staff for alternatives)
  • Use of library outlets to recharge items is at your own risk

Food and drink are limited to areas where they will not damage library equipment and resources:

  • If library staff believe your food may damage something, you will be asked to move
  • Clean up after yourself - supplies are available at the reference desk on the Middle Level

No alcohol, illegal drugs, smoking or use of tobacco products Bathing in the library is prohibited.

You must have permission from the library's administration office to post or leave information in the library.

Do not leave backpacks, purses, computers, phones, music players or other valuables unattended. The library is not responsible for lost or stolen belongings.

Special polices may apply to areas of the library such as Special Collections and Archives. See specific use policies for those areas.
