  • Gallop Poll Organization This site offers polls by general subject  poll releases , poll trends, social and economic indicator polls, and more. Many polls include background essays on the topic. Polls since 1997 are available here.

  • PollingReport.com    "An independent, nonpartisan resource on trends in American public opinion."  The web site for the bi-weekly newsletter Polling Report. This site provides polls from over 36 sources, including Gallup, Harris, Pew Research, and media organizations. Most polls go back to 1998.  Recent polls are listed in the center of the homepage.

  • NES Guide to Public Opinion and Election Behavior  - National Election Surveys  "provides political observers, policy makers, journalists, teachers, students, and social scientists with immediate access to tables and graphs that display the ebb and flow of public opinion and electoral behavior and choice in American politics since 1948. The Guide presents responses to a small portion of the questions that have been asked in the 1948-2000 National Election Studies. "

  • General Social Survey - GSS  "The GSS has been conducted since 1972 by the National Opinion Research Center. It measures attitudes toward social conditions, economic status, political events, work, and family life. In addition to questions asked each year, topical modules are included on a rotating basis that focus on current social issues such as gender equity, religious beliefs, and perception of work. The 1972-2002 file was released in June 2003."

  • Institute for Research in Social Science University of North Carolina - " The Public Opinion Poll Question Database contains approximately 200,000 questions from surveys conducted since 1958, searchable by keyword or phrase. Questions are derived from the Louis Harris polls and state-level polling organizations from 22 states, with strong coverage of Southern states."

  • National Opinion Resource Center  University of Chicago  "NORC conducts survey research on public policy issues for a variety of agencies and corporations. See the "Projects" section for copies of recent surveys and their reports. NORC also conducts the General Social Survey"

  • Pew Research Center  "An 'independent opinion research group that studies attitudes toward press, politics and public policy issues.' Contains summaries of results, comparisons of how attitudes change over time, copies of questionnaires, and descriptions of survey methodologies. Some surveys are accompanied by tables with responses broken down by sex, race, age, religion, income, and geographic region. From the header bar, select Survey Reports for the summaries and related questionnaires going back to 1997. Select Datasets to download datasets in zip format, each of which include a datafile, file layout, and questionnaire"

  • Public Opinion Surveys The Cornell Institute for Social and Economic Research, Cornell University - An annotated list of useful online sources for poll and survey results, organized by geographic scope.

  • Archives of the National Network of State Polls : contains over 350 state-level studies from 22 survey organizations in 19 states.

  • Harris Poll Online : provides polls since 1999.

  • Opinion-Pages : provides access to current editorials, letters to the editor,commentaries and columnists from newspapers from the US, Canada and a few other countries.

  • Public Agenda Online : information on the field of opinion research gathered from a variety of sources.
