Businessman David Eccles succeeded his friend Thomas Dee as president of Utah Construction. Involved with some 27 corporations, Eccles served as president of 17 of them. His personal backing enabled the Utah Construction Company to land a prestigious $22.3 million contract with Western Pacific, in 1905, to build the 942-mile Feather River line between Salt Lake City and Oroville, California.
