Operations Update

 

As a result of the recent surge in COVID cases, Stewart Library might experience staffing disruptions. The library building will remain open during regular hours unless we face severe staffing shortages. Some in-person services will be limited in January and some will be moved temporarily online.

 

We are focusing on providing essential in-person services between 10 am and 2 pm, Monday through Friday. Public service desks will be open during the remaining hours, provided adequate staffing levels. There will always be information on remote options posted at service desks (email, phone, and chat) during temporary gaps in coverage.

 

We will continue to provide research and library help service via chat, as well as scanning on demand for course reserve materials, for those who cannot come to the library in-person during this time.  

 

Please check the library website for the latest information on hours and services in the case of temporary disruptions. Thank you for your patience as we continue to monitor the situation and adjust staffing to meet your most essential needs.

 

Essential In-Person Services, available 10 am to 2 pm, Monday-Friday:

 

  • Curbside delivery of library materials, including laptops and hotspots.
  • Interlibrary Loan pickup at the Circulation Desk (also available during all library hours, staffing permitting).
  • Research Help at the Information Desk on the second floor. (Online research help available during regular operating hours).
  • Drop-in services in Special Collections and University Archives.

 

Self-Service available during all library hours:

  • Reservable group study rooms.
  • Self-checkout of library materials from the book stacks.
  • Open computer lab (2nd floor).

 

Library and Research Help:

  • Chat Help available online Monday through Thursday 9 to 9, Friday and Saturday 9-5, and Sunday 1-5.
  • In-Person at the Ogden & Davis Campuses Monday through Friday 10-2.

 

Course Reserves:

Course Reserves are available for checkout at the Stewart and Davis libraries. In addition, to meet our student's needs for course textbooks and other material on physical reserve, we offer a scan on demand service if you are unable to come to the library. Students may request select pages or individual chapters from print reserves through Interlibrary Loan. Pages will be scanned and delivered electronically.

 

Interlibrary Loan:

Interlibrary Loan is available and in full operation. Material can be checked out from the Circulation Desk during regular library hours. Article and book chapter requests will be delivered electronically.

 

Department delivery of Interlibrary Loan material and Media material will not be available during the month of January so that we can focus limited staffing on processing requests and keeping the service available.

 

There might be some delays in electronic and print delivery of interlibrary loan materials because of staffing disruptions at our partner libraries across the country.

 

Davis Campus Library:

The following service desk hours will be in effect for the remainder of January 2022, with updates to follow: Monday – Friday: 10am – 2pm

 

The Davis Library Coordinator may be available for consultations outside of the service desk hours, by appointment. There is a self-checkout kiosk and a scanner on the West side of the service desk. Research Help is available online, Monday through Thursday 9 to 9, Friday and Saturday 9-5, and Sunday 1-5.

 

Special Collections and University Archives:

  • Drop-in services available Monday-Friday, from 10 to 3 pm.
  • Use the request form for an appointment during or outside of these hours or virtual help.

 

Other library services limited in January:

  • Hetzel Hollein Room reservations temporarily unavailable for reservations.
  • Community user computers will not be available in January.
  • Campus delivery of library materials will not be available in January.
  • Outstanding library payments may be paid online.
