Requesting items for hold or delivery

 

Some items may be requested to be “held” or set aside for someone so it can be picked up at the desk at a later time.

The amount of time it may take for items to be ready for pick up depends on if the item is available at the time it is requested or if it is currently checked out. 

 

Hold Policy:

  • Course Reserves, Reference books, and other non-circulating collections and materials cannot be put on hold.
  • Laptops and Hotspots must be requested through the Library Materials Request Form to be put on hold. 
  • Items will be available for pick up for 7 days before being made available for someone else to borrow.

How to place a hold on Books or Media:

In the Library Catalog, click on Login to your Account in the upper right corner.

All Weber State staff, faculty, and students have a CAS account. Do not fill out the login and password fields, simply click the CAS login text and you will be prompted to enter your WSU login and password.

For community and other non-WSU affiliated users, please fill in your Login & Password provided at the time your account was created.

Use the Library Catalog to search for the material you would like to place a hold for pick up on.

  • You can place a hold request on an item directly from the “Search Results” screen by clicking the blue “Place Hold” button located under the title of the material.

  • You can also place a hold request on an item by clicking on its title to view more information, and then clicking on the blue “Place Hold” button located on the right side of the screen.

The “Place Hold” button will take you to a hold confirmation screen where you can choose between pick up locations of either Davis or Stewart library from the drop down menu. You will receive an email confirmation that a hold has been placed on your desired item, and library staff will begin processing your request.

Once library staff have finished processing hold requests, email notification will be sent when the items are available for pickup at the User Services Desk at Ogden or Davis.

 

Campus Deliveries

WSU's libraries will deliver library books and media between the Davis campus library and the Ogden campus Stewart Library for WSU patrons, faculty, and staff:

  • Reserve, Reference, and equipment such as laptops, and other materials from non-circulating collections are not available for intercampus delivery.
  • Delivery shipments are made Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.  In case of bad weather, delivery of items may be delayed.

In the “Notes” field, Faculty and Staff may request on-campus delivery of materials to their department’s administrative office by adding the building code and room number of the office.

  • Please note that we cannot deliver directly to faculty and staff offices, only administrative offices.
  • Campus delivery bags must be returned back to Stewart Library within 2 weeks of receipt through campus mail or at any of the library book-drop locations on campus.

Once library staff have finished processing hold requests, email notification will be sent when the items are available for pickup at the User Services Desk at Ogden or Davis.

Email confirmation will be sent to faculty/staff who have requested items for delivery when they have been picked up by mail services. Please allow for up to a 5 day delay from the time the email is sent to arrival at the department’s administrative office.
