Library and web searching skills are essential for success in college and lifelong learning. Information Literacy is a general education requirement at WSU. Students may complete this requirement by registering for and passing one of the five courses listed below.

LIBS 1704 Information Navigator
(1 credit hour course, offered every semester; online or face to face)
This course teaches students to use an academic library and the internet to successfully identify, access, evaluate, and use information resources to support academic success and lifelong learning. Completing this course with a grade of C or higher meets the WSU Information Literacy requirement.

LIBS/EDUC 2604 Information Resources in Education
(1 credit hour course offered each semester; online)
This course will assist students in developing information literacy and academic research skills, and an understanding of academic integrity issues unique to the field of education. Students will develop skills in identifying, locating, retrieving, documenting, and critically evaluating both electronic and print resources that are appropriate for undergraduate research, with an emphasis on education and related disciplines. Completing this course with a grade of C or higher meets the WSU Information Literacy requirement. Cross-listed as EDUC2604.

(1 credit hour course offered each semester; online)
This course, intended for students interested in the health professions, will assist students in developing information literacy and research skills. Students completing this course will use an academic library and the internet to successfully identify, access, evaluate, and use information resources to support academic and clinical success and lifelong learning. ENGLISH 2015 Intermediate College Writing & Research
(4 credit hour course offered each semester; online or face to face)
This course combines writing and research skills, focusing on writing arguments, conducting research, and documenting sources. Students will learn the essential aspects of successful academic writing, focusing on the writing process, tailoring content for specific audiences, and collaborating with peers. Students completing this course will use an academic library and the internet to successfully identify, access, evaluate, and use information resources to support academic success and lifelong learning. This course satisfies the core requirement for English Composition. Completing this course with a grade of C or higher meets the WSU Information Literacy requirement.
